Abstract

Pasir Panjang Beach, which is located in Wates Village, Lekok Pasuruan sub-district, East Java, is a tourist destination that is visited by many tourists for recreation and swimming. The coast is an ecosystem that is vulnerable to various environmental changes. Efforts to use the beach as a tourist object must consider the environmental aspects and potential that exist at the location. The purpose of this study is to determine the suitability of the Pasir Panjang Beach tourism by determining the value of the tourism suitability index for recreation and swimming categories. The suitability of tourism is based on water quality and visitor perceptions of the suitability of Pasir Panjang Beach tourism. This study uses quantitative methods as well as structured interviews with the results of the research showing the IKW of Pasir Panjang beach has a value of 84%, which in its classification is very suitable for recreational tourism and swimming. The value of water quality using the STORET method shows a value of -25, which means that Pasir Panjang Beach is included in the medium-polluted category. The ODTWA score obtained a score of 684 for attractiveness with a classification of potential to be developed, the availability of fresh water obtained a score of 798, and facilities and infrastructure for 135. The value of visitors' perceptions of comfort is 90% with a comfortable and beauty classification of 75% with a pretty beautiful classification.
