Dinamika hubungan tarekat dan kekuasaan politik: studi kasus Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah Cukir Jombang

This research tries to investigate the dynamic relationship between tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah and the politics, in Jombang, East Java. The aim of this research is to obtain the picture of the tarekat followers' tendency towards the power of political parties (PPP, Golkar and PDI), during which the public elections were executed in Suharto's New Order. The stages of the research are: first, tracing the results of the research on tarekat until the invention is found; second, gathering the data by conducting interviews, observation, and discovery; third, comparing the differences of related theories to the field by interpretation; fourth, making the final report. The research finds the fact that the relationship between tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah and the politics was such a dynamic and dialectical one. This is proved by the availability of various choices among the tarekat followers in politics. In several places even there were found uprisings among the tarekats towards the government's intervention which was oppressive and authoritarian.
