Abstract
The consumption behavior of conventional economic systems emphasizing material satisfaction causes economic imbalances to appear and makes humanitarian values disappear. The concept of homo economicus is no longer relevant to the present economic condition. Therefore, Islam critiques the conventional economic theory of consumption. This critique rejects the presence of the building of paradigmatic values based on the conventional economic system. In this context, Islam gives a boundary for consumption behavior that is under the provisions of sharia to have homo Islamicus as a method.
