Abstract

This paper describes John Wansbrough's cynical and stereotyped thought about al-Qur'an, his colleagues' attitudes, and some Moslem Intellectuals' reaction toward them. It also presents some positive contribution of orientalists' thought -especially Wansbrough-to the development of al-Qur'an and Islamic studies in general.
