This paper is meant to scrutinize historically the Agami Jawi whose belief system is based on syncretism between Syiva-Buddhist and Islamic traditions. Agami Jawi is well-known religion and cultural system that holds on challenges of Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims who occupy Java Island since the fourth century. This religion has been successful to elaborate such local forms of ancestor worship, and the belief in spirits, magical power in natural phenomena, and sacred object in the human environment with Syiva-Buddha and Islamic belief systems. Though schools of this religion in the Indonesian modern slowly decrease after they reached their glory at 1960s, it’s almost Javanese people are syncretistic, incorporating Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and local religious elements.
